After graduating, she attended the diploma course at the Liverpool School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and was awarded the "Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene". From 1999 to 2001 she worked in the HIV Unit of the Department of Infectious Diseases at Frankfurt University Hospital, dealing mainly with HIV patients. From February to Mai 2001, she worked at the German Doctors' Health Center in Manila, Philippines, before taking a new position at the clinical Tropical Medicine Unit of Heidelberg University Hospital until 2003. She then moved back to Frankfurt where she is now in the Internal Medicine of the University Hospital. Her special interest is HIV in developing countries.
